BKS were appointed to construct new build cross laminated timber 210 pupil place special school, including structural steelwork and glulam.
The record investment, which includes £42million from the Essex Schools Forum, comes following an increase in the number of young people in the county being diagnosed with autism and amid a growing demand for special school places. Standout features of the new school include a multiuse games area, hydrotherapy facility, sensory rooms, light rooms, drop off and pick up areas, a soft play room, an in-floor rebound trampoline room and an
immersive room. The new state-of-the-art two-storey building is located on the former Montgomerie Infant School site next to its original home in Rushbottom Lane.
