B&K Structures welcome the Part Z proposed amendment to UK Building regulations, which outlines requirements on the assessment of whole life carbon emissions and limiting of embodied carbon emissions for all major building projects. Read our statement of support.

BKS is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of buildings through engineered timber and hybrid construction. We have invested in a robust carbon calculator to ensure all our projects have accurate and up to date carbon data, which can be used to highlight the benefits of building sustainably with timber. We believe that through knowledge sharing, research and collaboration, engineered timber and hybrid structures have the potential to significantly reduce the built environment’s carbon emissions. Internally, we are also looking at our own carbon footprint, and we are working with a team of expert consultants to reduce, report and remove our company emissions.

Mike Polack, BKS Technical Manager:

“B&K Structures supports the principles of Part Z – to measure and reduce the embodied carbon of buildings. We are able to assist others in the building industry by understanding our own emissions and those in our supply chain. We will continue to support the use and availability of accurate and up to date information for those calculating embodied carbon.”
