In the construction industry, excellence is not just a goal - it's a commitment.

Last year, B&K Structures were proud to demonstrate that excellence; delivering a myriad of innovative projects and winning numerous awards at the Structural Timber Awards, Offsite Awards and Wood Awards.

Receiving acclaim in a wide selection of categories – from Best Use of Timber Technology, to Commercial, Education and Retail Project of the Year – the season highlighted our strength and expertise across a wide range of sectors.
As we begin to prepare for our next round of submissions, BKS take a look back at some of our award-winning highlights from 2023.

Offsite Awards

Held annually in September, the Offsite Awards are known for celebrating companies and projects that are at the forefront of the industry in terms of innovation and expertise. In total, B&K Structures had six projects shortlisted across five different categories, including Commercial Project of the Year, Education Project of Year and Building Performance Pioneer – showcasing our consistently high standards across the board.

In a fantastic result on the night, B&K Structures proudly achieved three awards, with Newson’s Yard winning ‘Retail/Leisure Project of the Year’ and Dogger Bank O&M Base winning both ‘Commercial Project of the Year’ and ‘Best Use of Timber Technology’.

Structural Timber Awards

The next set of awards were the Structural Timber Awards, taking place in October. The annual STAs feature and celebrate compelling examples of what can be achieved using timber, highlighting impressive innovation and demonstrating the construction industry’s increasing confidence in the material.

In 2023, B&K Structures had five projects shortlisted in five different categories, and again the night featured more than one win. Dogger Bank O&M Base received glowing praise, winning the prestigious ‘Project of the Year’ award, while NMIS (National Manufacturing Institute Scotland) Glasgow received the award for ‘Education Project of the Year’, and Technique was ‘Highly Commended’ in the Commercial category.

Wood Awards

Held later in the year in November, the Wood Awards is the UK’s premier competition for excellence in architecture that recognises, encourages, and promotes outstanding design, craftsmanship and installation using wood. With an independent judging panel of professionals, and site visits to all shortlisted projects, the competition is fierce and making the shortlist is a considerable achievement.

Ranked in the top 10% of entries, NMIS (National Manufacturing Institute Scotland) Glasgow was shortlisted in the ‘Buildings’ category and fought off tough competition to be ‘Highly Commended’ as a close runner up to the winner.

The 2023 award season was a resounding success for the BKS team and partners, with 6 wins and a whole host of ‘Highly Commended’ certificates across all three awards. As we turn our attention to our upcoming 2024 awards we're excited to enter a fresh batch of stunning projects into the Structural Timber, Offsite and Wood Awards and more. Already shortlisted 8 times for the Offsite Awards, with the others to be announced in due course, 2024 looks sure to be our best year yet!
