Last week BKS attended the Structural Timber Conference, where our Pre-Construction Manager Alex Brock showcased B&K Structures' work at NMIS alongside Ross Barrett at HLM Architects and Steve Peet at Engenuiti.
Unveiling the dynamic shifts within the timber industry, the Structural Timber Conference was the ideal platform to examine our work at NMIS’ new headquarters, where B&K Structures delivered the unique glulam diagrid feature roof with raking V-columns and cross laminated timber panels.
Alex Brock, Pre-Construction Manager:
“This year’s Structural Timber Conference was the best one yet, and always an important event on our annual calendar. A number of great projects were shared and important topics discussed.
I was very pleased to play a small part in the day, presenting our work on the NMIS project with Ross and Steve and giving the audience a window into the complexity of the construction process.”
As part of the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland's exemplary climate change and sustainability aims, engineered timber was selected to help create a unique character and identity, whilst significantly reducing embodied carbon. The project pushes the boundaries for the application of engineered timber, and has created a BREEAM Outstanding, inspirational learning environment with a unique structural identity.
