Works are progressing on site at Alkerden Academy, where B&K Hybrid Solutions are delivering the CLT, glulam and steel package on behalf of Graham Building.

This new all-through school will feature a two-storey 2-form entry primary school building and five-storey 8-form entry secondary school building.

The primary school features exposed glulam beams and CLT floors - with CLT slabs supported on CLT walls and glulam and steel beams. The secondary school is a hybrid RC and steel frame, with 20m long span Glulam beams with CLT panels, which will form a dramatic roof over the sports hall.

This major new education hub in Ebbsfleet Garden City will offer more than 2,200 places to primary and secondary school pupils - making it one of the largest education facilities ever to be built in Kent, occupying an expansive 11.1-hectare site.

The design aligns with the latest sustainability standards, aiming for a BREEAM Excellent rating and adopting BIM Level 2, and the project will be carried out in a single phase to minimise disruption. The campus will also include a community sports hall and sports pitches together with related car parking and access roads.

BKHS are delighted to be part of the expert project team alongside GRAHAM Building, Academy Consulting, CamLand Group, Henley Investment MAnagement Ltd, Heyne Tillett Steel and L E P | Lee Evans Partnership LLP.
