A large-scale structural steelwork unit for Glass Systems in Port Talbot

B&K Hybrid Solutions delivered a large-scale structural steelwork unit in Port Talbot on behalf of Bowmer + Kirkland and Glass Systems.

The glass manufacturing development, on a 30-acre site, included a mezzanine office, which measured 1,355 sqm, used for processing glass.

Glass Systems - which already has six factories across the UK and employs more than 1,000 staff - manufactures around 100,000 insulated glass units a week to the UK window market.

This addition to their facilities safeguarded 500 jobs in the Port Talbot area as well as creating 100 more, and the new glass factory development benefitted from Welsh government business support, allowing for investment in machinery, equipment and site expansion.

BKHS’ expert team - aided by our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and cutting-edge Peddinghaus machines – detailed, fabricated, and erected circa 800 tonnes of hot and cold rolled structural steelwork.
