An award winning, automotive design and engineering centre associated with one of the UK's most iconic businesses.

About the Client

Jaguar Land Rover brings together two highly prestigious British car brands. With origins that trace back to 1922, Jaguar Land Rover has created a history of automotive innovation that spans from high-efficiency engines to revolutionary automotive technology.

The Brief

To create one of the foremost automotive design and engineering centres in the world, reflecting the design quality and company values associated with one of the UK’s most iconic businesses.

JLR’s sustainability and wellbeing strategy shaped the building philosophy for the new design and engineering centre, together with the desire to create a defining roof structure from innovative timber technology. Speed and ease of construction were the driving forces behind this project, without compromising the quality of design and materials.

This development is integral to JLR’s wider expansion programme at the Banbury Road site in Warwickshire. Facilities include new design and engineering studios, state-of-the-art offices, a restaurant and a multipurpose hall, amongst other amenities. A new internal thoroughfare connects all areas, creating a sense of community and maximising the potential for interaction.

The Results

In close collaboration with our construction partners, B&K Structures designed, engineered and installed one of Europe’s largest engineered timber roofs to bring together a diverse range of spaces and facilities for Jaguar Land Rover. Resulting in this groundbreaking roof structure with outstanding green credentials winning ‘Best Commercial Project’ in the Structural Timber Awards 2019.

The new design and engineering centre is a testament both to JLR’s British heritage of innovation and its compelling vision for future technology. The new space will centralise our design, product
engineering and purchasing functions in an original and modern environment, as well as create additional capacity for the future.
