A groundbreaking new engineered timber scheme in Aberdeen

B&K Hybrid Solutions have now finished on site Riverbank School – one of our largest CLT education projects - delivering this groundbreaking new engineered timber scheme in Aberdeen.

We were appointed to design and build the structural timber elements for the two-storey building, including CLT floor and roof slabs, supported by CLT walls and steel beams and columns across three wings of the facility.

The project includes over 15,000m2 of cross laminated timber, supporting steelwork and 90m3 of curved glulam feature rafters.

The new school is being built partly on the site of its predecessor and will increase local capacity to cater for families moving to new housing developments in the area, as well as offering 100 new Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) places.

The flexible design of the new school responds to any possible changes in the needs of the pupils, community or in the local demographic profile in future.

This cross laminated timber and glulam school in Scotland will be another addition to our growing portfolio in the Education sector. A full design and build project, our team of skilled structural engineers have completed innovative member and connection design to the timber elements.

Once completed, the new school will provide a capacity for a total of 651 pupils, a 3G seven-a-side football pitch and external outdoor play and learning facilities.
