Univ North is a new development for University College, Oxford, which has been a second home for students for over 50 years.
A fantastic example of hybrid construction, B&K Hybrid Solutions were selected to deliver the combined structural package, including CLT wall, floor and roof panels with supporting glulam and steel members - with steelwork manufactured from our state-of-the-art facility.

The development features four student accommodation blocks - Water Court West (WCW), Water Court East (WCE), Walnut Lawn and Banbury Road.
The superstructure of these student accommodation blocks - which consist of a combination of CLT panels, glulam beams, steel beams and columns - were designed by BKHS’ in-house expert design team of structural engineers.
A full design and build package, our design team were responsible for the management of the steel connection and the temporary stability design during the installation phases, which involved strong collaboration between all project partners to ensure a flawless onsite phase.

Our site teams then completed the erection of the CLT floor and wall panels, CLT internal staircases and roof areas.
Once completed, the North Oxford development will include several new student accommodation blocks, ranging between 3 and 4 storeys high, which aim to provide University College’s (Univ) students, academics and staff with the very best facilities. The new provision will further enhance the Univ community; which has had a home at the site on Staverton Road site for 50 years.
