B&K Hybrid Solutions are delighted to join Climate Group’s #SteelZero initiative and commit to using 50% lower emission steel by 2030 and 100% net zero by 2050 at the very latest.

We’re taking action to tackle the hidden carbon emissions linked to the steel we use and address the climate crisis. By making this commitment, we’re creating a new market for sustainable materials and finding ways to tackle the hidden carbon emissions linked to the steel we use.

At B&K Hybrid Solutions Ltd we are thrilled to announce our participation in the SteelZero initiative. As a SteelZero member as part of Climate Group, we are making a public commitment to procuring, specifying or stocking 100% net zero steel by 2050, and 50% lower carbon steel by 2030.

As a business we are committed to sustainable construction and recognise the paramount importance of decarbonising construction, which accounts for nearly 40% of global emissions. For many years, we have embraced hybrid timber and steel solutions to reduce carbon emissions throughout our supply chain and in our projects, and our involvement in the SteelZero initiative will ensure this commitment is also reflected in our steel manufacturing.

SteelZero reflects BKHS’ unwavering commitment to reducing our carbon emissions, promoting environmental responsibility, and embracing innovative, low-carbon steel production methods. This initiative allows us to be at the forefront of a global movement towards a greener future, and it aligns perfectly with our core values.

By joining SteelZero, we are looking to not only demonstrate our dedication to a sustainable future but ensure every aspect of our business is as carbon efficient as possible. We are excited to be part of this journey and look forward to bringing you further updates as we achieve our environmental goals.

SteelZero is a global initiative bringing together forward-looking organisations to speed up the transition to a net zero steel industry. Led by international non-profit the Climate Group in partnership with ResponsibleSteel, organisations that join SteelZero make a public commitment to procure 100% net zero steel by 2050. By harnessing their collective purchasing power and influence, SteelZero sends a strong demand signal to shift global markets and policies towards responsible production and sourcing of steel. #SteelZero
