  • Port of Tyne – Commercial Project of the Year, Installer of the Year & Project of the Year
  • Newson’s Yard – Retail & Leisure Project of the Year
  • NOMA Pavilion – Low Energy Project of the Year
  • NMIS – Education Project of the Year

Find out more about each of these projects below:

Technique – Shortlisted for Commercial Project of the Year & Project of the Year

Technique stands out as an imaginative yet sensitive unification of two outdated 20th century industrial buildings into a vibrant new commercial property. Offsite manufacturing is at the heart of this redevelopment, with engineered timber being employed to create three attractive new floors which helped achieve the ambitious overall financial, practical and environmental goals for this building.

Dogger Bank O&M Base, Port of Tyne – Shortlisted for Commercial Project of the Year, Installer of the Year, and Project of the Year

Port of Tyne’s new O&M base is a CLT & Glulam hybrid scheme that has been designed to achieve net zero carbon and provide one of the best workspaces in the North-East. Structural timber - as an accurate, sustainable and speedy offsite construction method - was the ideal choice for this state-of-the-art project with such high environmental requirements that, when operational, will support what will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm in boosting the UK’s energy security.

Newson’s Yard – Shortlisted for Retail & Leisure Project of the Year

Newson’s Yard is a high profile new design hub featuring top end retail outlets and eateries located in a extensively refurbished and reimagined former timber yard, set amidst the famous Pimlico Road Design District. An offsite manufactured, hybrid steel and engineered timber package, forming the new internal structure and creating an extensive mezzanine level, is at the heart of the development’s identity and commercial success.

NOMA Marketing Suite – Shortlisted for Low Energy Project of the Year

The NOMA Pavilion is a 250 m2 marketing suite which has been designed to not only embody the highest standards of performance and sustainability, but was also conceived to be fully demountable and relocatable to other planned locations as the wider development evolves. Offsite engineering employing engineered timber is at the core of the building’s flexibility, and the small scale Marketing Suite can be considered an exemplar for future larger projects, in both design and environmental potential.

National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland (NMIS) – Shortlisted for Education Project of the Year

The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), located at AMIDS, is an industry-led centre of manufacturing excellence. Developed to connect Scottish universities and colleges with industry and the public-sector, it aims to undertake ground-breaking R&D to boost the skills of current and future workforces. Engineered timber is at its core, aiming to promote collaborative working, sustainability and innovation in an environment that is both carbon-neutral and optimized for productivity.
