B&K Structures are now nearing completion on site at Haileybury SciTech! We are pleased to share these progress photos – taken earlier this year – which showcase the stunning CLT installation for the project’s teaching block and research block, which are now complete.

On behalf of Kier Group, BKS are delivering the CLT wall, floor and roof panels with supporting glulam columns and beams, for the school’s new three storey teaching block, two storey research block and cloister area.

BKS completed innovative timber connection and member design, alongside our project partner Engenuiti, with CLT manufactured by Stora Enso and glulam from Derix. The vision for the new SciTech project is to provide space for not only practical work and theoretical study but science research to be integrated into the curriculum. These experimental and interactive spaces - including laboratories housing the Stan-X programme, run in collaboration with professors from Stanford University - open up the rear of the existing 1930s science building, while enhancing natural light and views of the school site.

The additions will double the size of the school’s current provision and is a huge step towards the school achieving their sustainability goals to become net zero. Specifying low carbon structural timber, and featuring solar panels, green roofs and ground-source heat pumps, Haileybury SciTech’s vision is to integrate the existing buildings and new accommodation around a courtyard, bringing the disciplines together both symbolically and physically.
