B&K Structures are pleased to announce that we've been selected to deliver Paradise; a visionary new structural timber office building in London.

BKS will deliver the full-scale timber project, including CLT  slabs and V shaped glulam feature columns, on behalf of Gilbert Ash and the client Bywater Properties. The 63,250 sq ft, six-storey office building will feature a feature a flexible, open-plan layout and aims to catalyse job creation in Lambeth, attracting creative industries to this part of London.

Paradise – like its name suggests – has been designed to create happy and healthy workspaces, utilising the biophilic and low carbon benefits of structural timber.

Appealing to potential tenants who are becoming increasingly conscious of their own carbon credentials, Paradise is predicted to achieve RIBA’s 2030 Climate Challenge and LETI’s 2030 target. It aims to transform a neglected and disused site into a forward-looking sustainable office space; a test case for promoting awareness around the carbon impact of buildings.

Cross laminated timber and glulam have been specified for their low carbon and biophilic qualities, whilst also being sympathetic to the local landscape; the office will directly border a park on one side and overlook a tree canopy on the other.

Already a winner in the WORKING category at the 2020 NLA Awards, Paradise aims to set new benchmarks of environmentally friendly, low carbon construction whilst promoting occupiers’ health and wellbeing.

We look forward to working alongside all project partners – Gilbert Ash, Bywater Properties, Sumitomo Forestry, Webb Yates Engineers, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios – and bringing you updates as the site progresses.
